This 9,500㎡ mechanical equipment workshop, located in Jiujiang, Jiangxi, was developed to support the production and assembly of heavy machinery. The client required an external wall system that could deliver high fire resistance, thermal insulation, and durability, while also withstanding the region’s humid subtropical climate.
Client’s Challenge
Jiujiang experiences hot summers, high humidity, and significant rainfall, which impose strict requirements on the building envelope. The client needed:
- A fire-safe, insulatedexterior wall system suitable for industrial use
- Excellent moisture resistanceand weather durability
- A façade material that maintains both performance and aesthetics over time in a humid, corrosiveenvironment
- A solution that enables fast installationand low maintenance
Our approach and solution
We proposed our PU edge-sealed rock wool sandwich panel system as the external wall solution, customized to local climate and application needs.
Key Product Features:
- Core Material: High-density rock wool (100–120 kg/m³), ensuring superior fire resistance (up to EI120)and effective thermal insulation.
- Edge Sealing: Polyurethane (PU) edge sealing prevents moisture penetrationand improves air-tightness, particularly critical in humid climates like Jiujiang
- Surface Coating: The external steel skin is coated with polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)finish—renowned for its excellent UV resistance, anti-fading, and anti-corrosion properties
- Metal Skin: Galvanized color-coated steel for structural integrity and smooth surface finis
- System Benefits: Fast interlocking installation, strong mechanical stability, and long-lasting aesthetic appeal with minimal maintenance
The use of PVDF coating is especially suited to Jiujiang’s environment, as it resists chalking, corrosion, and humidity-induced surface degradation.
