Cold Storage for Fresh Produce
about project
This landmark cold chain logistics center located in Jiangmen, Guangdong, spans 100,000㎡ and serves as a regional hub for the storage and distribution of fresh agricultural products. The project required a high-performance cold storage system that could operate reliably in hot and humid conditions while meeting food safety standards.
Client’s Challenge
The client faced several technical and environmental challenges, including:
- Maintaining precise low-temperature zonesfor different categories of perishable goods
- Dealing with Guangdong’s high humidity and year-round heat, which can cause moisture intrusion and insulation degradation
- Ensuring food-grade safety compliancefor all internal surfaces
- Controlling energy consumptionacross the large-scale facility
- Requiring materials with both thermal efficiencyand long service life
Our approach and solution
We provided a full range of high-specification PIR core insulated sandwich panels, designed to deliver consistent thermal insulation and long-term reliability for food cold chain facilities.
Key Product Features:
- Core Material: PIR (Polyisocyanurate) foam with density of 40–45 kg/m³, offering low thermal conductivity (≤ 0.021 W/m·K), excellent dimensional stability, and inherent fire resistance(B-s1,d0 / B1 rating).
- Superior Fire Performance: Compared to standard PU, PIR resists combustion better and forms a protective char layer, enhancing fire safety in critical areasGalvanized color-coated steel skinswith a durable surface finish, offering corrosion resistance and a sleek industrial appearance
Surface Options:
1.Galvalume (aluminum-zinc-coated) steel sheet for enhanced corrosion resistance and thermal reflectivity on exterior walls
2.Food-grade stainless steel (SS304) for interior-facing panels in areas requiring strict hygiene, easy cleaning, and bacterial resistanceThis solution perfectly aligned with the client’s goals, offering both functional performance and long-term value.
3.Joint System: Tongue-and-groove interlock with concealed fasteners ensures airtightness, vapor barrier, and structural stability
4.Advanced Production Process: Utilized a five-component foaming systemthat enables more complete chemical reactions between polyol and isocyanate. This results in more uniform foam density, higher cell structure integrity, and stronger adhesion between the foam core and steel skins, ensuring panel durability and consistent thermal performance
result
The completed cold chain park now operates with exceptional thermal insulation efficiency, low energy consumption, and stable internal temperature zones. The use of PIR panels and dual-surface options (galvalume and stainless steel) provides the client with a solution that is both hygienic and weather-resistant, tailored to Guangdong’s challenging climate. The logistics facility is now a regional benchmark for agricultural cold chain storage, ensuring product freshness and operational reliability.
